As a poker player you need to be honest with yourself. Do you have the skills of a professional?
Are you just starting out? The way that you rate your poker skills will have a lot to do with how you move forward with your career. That being said, if you are not honest you are not going to get very far. Believe it or not, it is tougher than it sounds to honestly assess your skills.
The easiest way to rate your poker skills is to play a few hands against good competition. You can do this online or off. After doing so, you will have a good idea of how you stack up. Were you overwhelmed by the competition? Did you hold your own? Did you dominate? When you answer these questions it will become much easier to honestly asses just how advanced you are.
If you find that you are a solid poker player it may be time to take your game to the next level. For many, this means playing in tournaments and taking on the biggest names in the game. Of course, you may learn that you are not quite as good as you thought; but this is not always a bad thing.
On the other hand, if your skills are still a bit underdeveloped you should continue to learn through practice. The more that you play the better off you will be. Over time, you will see that areas of initial concern have given way and you are now much better off.
Even the best poker players in the world know that there are other players who are just as good as them. For this reason, you should always be working hard to take your game to the next level. Your skills will determine how much and how often you win. When you can honestly say that you are developing into a solid player, you will find that your earnings are increasing as the days go by.
