Playing Poker with your Mind

by: Chris Bibey

To be a great poker player you need to be smart. This does not mean that you need a high IQ in a traditional sense, but it does mean that you need to be poker smart. There are a lot of details and rules that govern this game, and as a player you should be fully aware of all of them. No matter if you are a beginner or professional poker player, if you want to succeed you need to use your mind to your advantage.

Every casino game calls for a certain level of smarts. That being said, poker is at the top of this list. If you attempt to play this game in a reckless manner you are not going to get very far. The best of the best play each hand based on what they know and what they think is going to happen. This is not always good enough to become a winner, but at least you are on the right track.

You need to develop your mind. In other words, you are not going to be great at the game of poker the first time you play. Instead, your knowledge will grow over time. In turn, the more that you know the more comfortable you will be using your mind to your advantage.

Finally, don’t get caught thinking too much. Yes, it is your brain that will help you time after time, but you do not want to over think the game. Instead, use the skills and knowledge that you have and let things go at that.

If you play poker with your mind you will find that you are more successful. And as you gather more and more knowledge your chances of winning will drastically increase.
